Deborah Thurlow Hosts CD Release Party in NYC

Following her previously released single “Where Were You,” composer and singer/songwriter Deborah Thurlow will now host a CD release event for her latest CD, Collage, at the Arthur Seelen Theatre (downstairs from the Drama Book Shop) in NYC on October 1, 2013, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.  A departure from her previous releases of modern classical/jazz music, Collage is a collection of twelve original Adult/Contemporary songs that are seductively engrossing and inspiring.  Accompanying Deborah at the event will be popular pianist Russell Daisey and Collage CDs will be offered at a "CD Party Special” price of $10.00.

As Ian Wagstaff commented in Horn Magazine, “. . . combine the Dalai Lama with Berlioz, throw in some Hebraic influence . . . Deborah Thurlow uses an eclectic mix of instruments, from the shofar to the Tibetan singing bowl, . . . [with] a strong electronic influence.”  And now with the same exploratory spirit and creativity Deborah is branching out in yet another direction and expressing another side of her musical personality.  Along with her soulful vocals and engaging songwriting skills Collage features seamless performances by Russell Daisey on piano, Loren Daniels on piano & organ, the acoustic guitar of Vincent Downes, Brian Princing on electric guitar, Alex Gressel on upright & electric bass, and the drums of Andrea Valentini.  Collage is yet another of Deborah’s infectious stylistic excursions that expands the trajectory of her expressive musical vision and is sure to wet the appetites of her listeners for more.

Deborah Thurlow is a composer/horn player/vocalist/songwriter/music educator and a freelance musician in the New York City area and Europe.  She starred in her own one act play with music, The Creative Void Of The Planet Earth, which was featured in an Equity Showcase run of seven performances by the New Media Repertory Company under the direction of Miranda MacDermot.  She has also performed with the Pina Baush Ballet Company, Franz Kaman, David Amram, Anthony Davis, and The New York Composers Orchestra, to name but a few.  She studied both composition and orchestration with John Corigliano at Lehman College and has received grants from Meet the Composer, ASCAP Awards, William Petshek Music Fund and the Puffin Cultural Foundation.  Her modern classical/jazz works are published with Ensemble Publications/Nichols Music Company and DSM Producers who cater to the film and TV industry exclusively.  As a music educator Deborah teaches privately, at public schools, colleges and neighborhood performing arts schools.  She devotes much of her time to teaching music to underprivileged youths while continuing to pursue her music career in a way that inspires her students as well as her fans.  Collage is a sparkling example of Deborah’s vocal and songwriting talents and an enticing preview of her exciting and engaging live performances.
